The Double C’s Awesome Poll: Week 6
1.Ohio St. (9, 10, 6, 6, 3)
2. South Florida (–, 15, 4)
3. Boston College (NR, NR, 12, 10,5)
4. Kentucky / LSU / SC
5. Oregon (NR, 18, 14, 14,6)
6. Oklahoma (12, 6, 5, 5, 9)
7. Arizona St. (-, 7)
8. Cal (2, 3, 4, 4, 2)
Thos are the only teams that matter to me at this point. Three Pac-10 teams and three SEC teams in the top 8. Shoot me in the face. I’m no better than any national media douche nozzle at this point. But I honestly can’t calculate it any other way. The Big Ten is experiencing let down after let down. I thought Illinois could roll with some momentum. Nope. They played terrible. USC looks terrible and is no where near this list. They need to absolutely destroy Cal, Oregon and Arizona St to make me look at them. Oklahoma has rebounded from its nap. Imagine where Oregon would be if that ball wasn’t fumbled out of the endzone. If they win that game they are strangling the top spot right now. Kentucky/LSU/SC are inseparable in the DCA right now. SC beat UK, SC lost to LSU, and then UK beat LSU. I feel icky putting any team above another. Clearly I still believe that LSU is better than the other two, but now they have to re-earn that respect. Boston College shouldn’t be No.3. Don’t worry though, this will be corrected in due time.
The season is boiling down to the question we all feared it would boil down to: OSU or South Florida? If that’s the BCS title game, hopefully the Bucks will be able to beat half the state because we don’t seem capable of beating the whole thing. I’ve heard a lot of Buckeye fans upset with Mark May for putting South Florida ahead of us in his own poll that doesn’t count. I think he has a point. The Bulls beat Auburn on the road and handled a highly ranked West Va team. Those are quality wins. The Bucks have defeated Washington on the road and dominated half the MAC and a few Big Ten chumps. The Buckeyes have, however, handled their business and look legitimately scary on defense. When you picture the imaginary game in your head, it’s hard to see how South Florida wins. But, it’s not lunacy to have the Bulls slotted one. Did I just say that? Wow. This is one of the most fu(ck)n(ed up) college football seasons of my life time.
Saw*Kick Spotlight
USC v Notre Dame. I hate both of these teams with a fiery, deep passion. Notre Dame is terrible this year, and USC is proving they weren’t ready for primetime, despite a load of talent and a ton of illegal booster money. Despite all of that, this is one of the rivalries that make college football. There are clearly more important BCS games on the docket this week, but USC v Notre Dame is one of the particular games that transcend BCS importance, just like OSU/Michigan and Auburn/Alabama. And there are a few storylines here: Will Notre Dame continue the march toward competent football? Will the Trojans play a solid game and not down to their opponent as they have all season? Will players decide to stay committed to Notre Dame after another beatdown? Mostly, I think both of these teams need a hug right now, so I’m giving them the S*K Spotlight boost.
And with that, another mailed-in CFE is complete. I’m one column away from being Vince Carter. Anyhow, good luck to the Tribe. Good luck to the Bucks. And hey, no matter what, the Browns can’t lose this weekend. Never a bad thing. Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Well, there goes #2
Has Iowa cracked the top 1000 yet? That would make my weekend. Doesnt matter though….they get to play a open offense this week and will get beat. No more wins for Hawks this year I don’t imagine.
Someone needs to give the fan a hug.
Thank you.
